How I could work with you or your child

I am a highly qualified and experienced therapist with postgraduate training and extensive experience across private practice, the NHS, and both public and private school settings, including boarding environments. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within their ethical framework to provide safe, effective, and person-centred care.

I integrate a range of evidence-based models to tailor treatment to each individual's needs. My core training lies in three specific modalities:

Person-Centred Psychotherapy (Rogerian)

Person-Centred Therapy is a non-directive, empathetic talking therapy that gives you space to explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe, neutral, and confidential environment. In this approach, you are not told what to do or judged for what you share. Instead, you are supported with warmth, acceptance, and genuine understanding so that you can explore your difficulties at your own pace. Together, we create the conditions that help you feel heard and valued. This therapy is based on the belief that you already have the capacity to grow, heal, and move toward your potential. With the right support and environment, you can develop a deeper understanding of yourself and find solutions that feel authentic and lasting for you.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-oriented treatment that helps you manage and treat anxiety, depression, eating disorders and obsessive compulsive disorder. In CBT, you’ll explore how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours are connected. Together, we’ll identify unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviours that may be keeping you stuck, and develop practical strategies to help you respond in healthier, more balanced ways. CBT is active and collaborative, giving you tools to regulate emotions, manage anxiety, and build stronger coping skills. The focus isn’t just on feeling better in the moment, it’s on helping you develop lasting skills to support your long-term recovery and wellbeing.

Family-Based Treatment (FBT)

The leading evidence-based treatment for adolescent eating disorders, particularly anorexia and bulimia, is Family-Based Treatment (FBT). If your child is struggling, FBT offers you a structured, phased approach that actively involves your family in the recovery process. Through FBT, you are supported in helping your child restore weight and improve nutritional health, while gradually rebuilding their autonomy and independence. Together, you’ll also address the underlying factors contributing to the illness. Unlike traditional family therapy, FBT does not place blame on you or your family. Instead, it empowers you as an essential part of your child’s recovery and healing.

Trauma Therapy (CBT)

I offer trauma-informed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to support you in processing traumatic experiences, whether you are seeking short-term focused work or longer-term therapeutic support. The work may include: Developing an understanding of trauma and how it affects the brain and nervous system, building emotional regulation and grounding skills, working with re-experiencing and intrusive symptoms, addressing heightened arousal and hypervigilance, exploring negative thinking patterns, and gently reducing avoidance behaviours. This approach is collaborative, structured, and paced carefully to ensure safety while supporting meaningful recovery.

Neuro-diversity

If you are autistic, ADHD, or identify as otherwise neurodivergent, therapy with me is adapted to suit you. This might mean adjusting the pace of sessions, being more structured and goal-focused, incorporating visual or written supports, reducing sensory overwhelm, or being flexible with communication styles. You won’t be expected to fit into a rigid therapeutic model, instead, we shape the work around how you think, feel, and function best. I also understand how often neurodivergent individuals have experienced masking, burnout, shame, or feeling misunderstood. Therapy becomes a space where you can unmask safely, build self-understanding, and develop strategies that genuinely work for your brain, not against it.

Risk Management

I have significant experience in assessing and managing both physical and psychological risks associated with eating disorders, including low weight, refeeding risk, purging behaviours, and dietary restraint. I regularly assess safety in relation to school attendance and physical activity. Additionally, I have expertise in managing self-harm and suicidal ideation, including collaborative work with psychiatrists, GPs, nurses, and in supervisory roles with other professionals.
